The wrong sort of gardening! At this link, we show the mature poplar trees that used to grace the west of the site. This left just two smaller trees on the road side of the property, as shown below:
12 January 2008 During the summer, a landscape gardening firm removed many of the specimen shrubs, and in late August the two remaining semi-mature trees were also cut down:
The same view on 31 August There are still many trees and large shrubs at the bottom of the garden, and forming a barrier in the centre, and including a semi-mature copper beech:
View of the garden from the north-east (31 August 2008) The group of trees at the bottom of the garden provide useful screening for the residents further down Townhill Road and in Witchbrae, as shown in the pictures below, and one wonders whether the planning authorities have asked for a tree survey . . . or whether the developers are free to fell everything in sight? Meanwhile, the grass continues to grow!
View of the house from Witchbrae (29 January 2008) This picture and the one below show the valuable amount of screening provided by trees on the property, even when they are bare in winter.
